Olen käynyt läpi satoja valokuvia tätä sivustoani varten. Huomaan, että lopputuloksen katselu on kuin yhden neulasen katselua kuusipuusta. Luomisprosessi jää katsojalta usein pimentoon; edessä näkee vain valmiin lopputuloksen. Prosessi – sen monimuotoisuus, yritykset ja erehdykset, lentoon lähteneet ja eri syistä pudonneet ideat – jää pimentoon. Kun kokoan portfoliotani, joudun auttamatta karsimaan tekemisiäni kovalla kädellä. Mikä työ ja lopputulos näyttävät siltä henkilöltä, jonka tahdon peilistä katsovan takaisin? Katsovan katsojaa? Minkä osan itsestäni, kumman posken, tahdon maailmalle ja katsojille paljastaa?
En karsi osa-alueita. Esitän skaalan laidasta laitaan. Valokuvauksesta linja-autoteippauksiin. Vedenalaisesta valokehästä rakennussuunnitteluun. Sähköpostikampanjasta käsinkirjoitettuun logoon. – Sillä sellainen minä olen. Usein olen istunut kissa harteillani töitä tehdessä, tai kuvannut töitäni portfoliota varten lastenohjelmien raikuessa, nelivuotiaan miespääosan vaatiessa huomiotani.
Kiitän asiakkaitani kaikista saamistani toimeksiannoista ja yhteistyöstä. Kaiken mahdollistamisesta. Rakastan työtäni. Perheelleni ja läheisilleni iso kiitos avusta, tuesta ja kärsivällisyydestä. Hertalle syvä kumarrus: hänen osansa yhteisestä työhuoneesta on toiminut studiotaustana monille portfoliokuville.

I have gone through hundreds of photos for this new website of mine. I see that looking at the end result is like examining a single needle from a spruce tree. The creative process is often left in the darkness, unrevealed: in the forefront you can only see the finished result, or a small part of it. The process – the efforts and the mistakes, the flying and falling ideas, for various reasons – has been erased.
As I compile my portfolio, I have to severely prune. Which work, and which result, seems like the person I want to see in the mirror? What part of myself, which one of my two cheeks, do I want to turn to the viewer, and reveal to the world, and to you?
I will not prune the scale. I’m setting the whole scale, from end to end, before you. From photography to bus advertising. From environmental art to building design. From email campaigns to a handwritten logo. – That’s what I am. Often I sat doing work with a cat on my shoulder, or photographing my works for the portfolio with the sound of Netflix animations in the background, the four-year-old lead demanding I take notice of him.
I thank my clients for all of the commissions and the co-operation. For making this all possible. I love my work. To my family and close friends, thank you for your help, support and patience. I warmly thank Hertta for letting me photograph my portfolio with her more beautiful side of our studio as the background.
